A Heart-Breaking Line

Today a little seven-year-old boy walked with me down an empty hall after our worship. This boy's parents have been separated since before Christmas. We were talking about how he felt and how he has spent “only one day with dad" these past many weeks. Remembering how his mom had picked him up and they slowly drove away from "that place where my dad lives" he took my hand and said with a sigh,

"I was so sad I thought I was going to have a heart attack."

Dads, no matter how bad you feel things are, please struggle through and stay with your kids’ mom. If you're already in a blended family, love those kids like there's no tomorrow. Hang on to one another. From a kid’s perspective one another is all we’ve got.

The kids are right.
